Sketch Peru
Thanks to a few donations and money I’ve constantly invested, I’ve commissioned a new sketch for the Peru scene.
I’d previously worked with a different sketch artist, but I decided to give someone else a chance. This was a bit of a gamble, as it always costs extra money, but it worked out well.
I create an initial document containing all the important information. This includes things like the atmosphere, lighting, objects, walking paths, potential actions, and additional notes for the sketch artist and pixel artist. I also create a very rough sketch myself (since I can’t draw) and add additional photos if needed. I then give that document to the sketch artist, and then I just hope it turns out well.
And I’m proud to announce that Mayo Lopez has successfully completed the Peru scene! π
The scene doesn’t yet contain all the animations and characters, but it gives you a rough idea of ββwhat it will look like.
Peru contains 3 scenes in total, and she’s currently working on the interior of the museum. This requires a different approach to drawing, so it remains exciting to see what the result will be. After that, there are more scenes to sketch, I still have to think about what the exact order will be.
Meanwhile, I’ve started converting the sketch to pixel-perfect quality myself. The plan is for a pixel artist to improve it afterward. This keeps the costs down, as I don’t have a budget yet.
Steam Early Access
Another way to receive donations is to release the game in Early Access. This allows people to play the first scenes, and I can use the money to develop the game.
Thanks to several donations, I was able to pay for a Steamworks subscription and am awaiting confirmation of my account.
Meanwhile, I’m working on getting the game as good as possible so it can be played on Steam. For example, last month the game didn’t have a settings menu or other menu options. These have now been added.
Game settings
Every game needs a menu, but I hadn’t created one yet. Now you can see everything under the “Menu” button.

In-game Menu
When you select ‘Settings,’ you’ll see the available settings so far (more are coming). Some useful options that some players might appreciate are:
- Hotspot Hover
- This is enabled by default and allows you to see what an item in the scene is when you hover your cursor over it.
- Fast Travel
- If you don’t want to wait to open a door, for example, to proceed to the next scene.
- Fullscreen / Windowed Mode
- Highlight Relevant Action
- This highlights only the button in the action menu when the action is necessary for the story. For example, “Open” the door.
- Gray Out Unavailable Action
- This grays out everything in the action menu if the action is not possible. For example, “Talk to” the door.
Thanks to the options, you can make the game as difficult or easy as you like.
I chose brightness, since colors look different on every monitor. This allows you to fine-tune it to your monitor.
